Community Action Group Reports

8.1

Avenue of Honour Report:   No report

8.2

Community Complex Advisory Committee Report:

Reported that Cardinia's 'Community Strengthening Officer' has been in touch.
Do we still need the Community Complex Advisory Committee? It seems “yes” as there are many issues that affect all the groups that use the Complex. There is no need for a management type committee but perhaps some sort of body corporate type gathering to work through common issues.

General business

9.1

A Community (Bendigo) Bank for Beaconsfield
Up date from our rep Graham Taylor.
Graham has met with the Bank reps.
For the bank to go ahead we must have very strong community interest. (We could all help here). The Beaconsfield business group are very much for it. The bank will call another meeting in the not too distant future and they would very much like a high profile person’s support. (Who is Beaconsfield’s most high profile person?)
The next step will be a publicity campaign. Following this the bank will seek share holders. Provided we get enough share holders we could have a bank within 18 months.

9.2

Constitution Up Date: Waiting on the Beaconsfield/Officer boundary

9.3

Report on the Cardinia Embroidery installation in the Beaconsfield Community Complex project.
$1700 has now been collected toward the project. We need $2300 to pull this off. A plaque will be installed giving details of the original down at Pakenham

9.4

Up Date on the project to make Beaconsfield Plastic Bag Free - No report

9.5

Insurance matters. -
Report of the Baptist church’s ability to cover insurance for Carols.
The church has sufficient insurance to cover the event. But the BPA will need to move a motion transferring responsibility to the church and the church will then need to formally take up this responsibility.
However the BPA needs insurance cover for its ANZAC ceremony and its working bees, and its Banner delivery team and its meetings. So regardless of what the church can offer (re cover for Carols) the BPA must still get more insurance cover. So the BPA must purchase more insurance and the increased cover may be enough to cover the Carols. (Although the BPA may still be faced with the problem of not being able to afford the premiums for the level of cover it needs). Nik Hock will do more investigating and report back

9.6

Installation of a Flood Light for our Cenotaph - up date No news

9.11

Minutes’ distribution list.
Following discussion it was decided not to limit the email distribution list.
However the BPA executive were keen that the press only contact the president when seeking comments on matter mentioned in the minutes.
It was suggested from the floor that we stop distribution via emails completely and simply post the minutes and agenda on the website for every one to access. It was noted that the minutes and agendas are currently posted on our website and that at some point in the future we should cease to distribute via our email distribution list

9.12

Back wall of new shops on corner of Beaconsfield Emerald Road and Princes HighwayBrett Owen has on our behalf dug to the bottom of this issue. It seems the developer does have some obligations. Stand by for more.
