President: As Les had been away he had little to report. But did mention he was sad to see upon his return graffiti on the back of many of the shops and equally pleased to see it cleaned up a few days later

Councillor’s Report – Brett Owen:

Before our Ward Councillor spoke the President extended the meeting’s best wishes to Brett’s upon his recent engagement.

  • The Council last night moved to redraw the Officer/Beaconsfield boundary as per the plan that has been in circulation for the last 12 months. The matter now goes to a State Government department
  • Beautification grants are now available from the Council
  • The unpainted wall behind the new shops next to the hotel – council is pursuing this vigorously. An enforcement order has been issued and legal action will be taken if the owner does not comply.
  • The Beaconsfield Community Complex management has now taken over the hiring of the building on a trial period. It is hoped that this arrangement will become permanent.

Police Report: Sargent Paul Bruders

  • Following complaints the matter of the tent at the front of the Hotel will be investigated.
  • Although there has been some scribbly graffiti the police did not know about it until tonight. (Council will clean up all and any graffiti on their property. The council is seeking a Commonwealth Gov grant do deal with graffiti which if they received will allow the council to provide residents with graffiti cleaning kits.)
  • Four cars were interfered with at the railway station.
  • Speeding in and around Beaconsfield still a problem

A Community (Bendigo) Bank for Beaconsfield: Up date from our rep Graham Taylor.

  • The Business Group have set up a sub committee to look after the Bank issue. This committee meets on a Wed morning. Graeme will attend tomorrows morning’s meeting.
  • The Gazette have indicated they will run an article. And the Leader should be approached.
  • Main goal at present is building up of awareness in the community

Constitution Up Date: Waiting on the Beaconsfield/Officer boundary to be settled

Report on the Cardinia Embroidery replica installation in the Beaconsfield Community Complex project: The money is now nearly all in. Just a little bit more needed before the project can go ahead

Insurance matters: Nik is in conversation with the Council re the possibility of the
Council picking up the insurance. The Council is looking at the possibility of bundling the insurance needs of all community groups

Restoration of Park Gates Project. Ann is gathering history of the gates and the park. The goal is to have the new work look as close as possible to the original gates. Next we will need quotes to rebuild the brick pillars and then another quote to rebuild the steel gates. A heritage grant is also going to be sought. And also a beautification grant from the Council.

AGM16 October: Some preliminary thinking re office holders. The Office of: President Vice, President, Secretary, Treasurer, Will all be declared vacant. would you like to serve?)

Concern about the mess behind some of the shops. For instance there is an old disused fridge behind one. And behind others there are some home made sheds which look rather bad as these sheds face the Bob Burgess Reserve. Moved that we write to the Beaconsfield Business Group re this concern.

The Old Coach House looks like it has been sold to someone who will have the wherewithal to build something that will retain something of the old building

Gardening at the Rushton home suggested for Saturday 8th September. 10 AM start and about 4 hours works. Brett will pay for a skip out of Ward Funds $150. Everyone to bring their own gardening tools. An email to all BPA members to come on down and help.

Sign in the Berwick Library seeking interested in another version of the BPA. But no one else seems to know anything about this./td>

The Beaconsfield Station Car Park will be up dated in the next few weeks. Let the Council know if parking in the side streets becomes a problem

Web site statistics were presented about 4,000 hits per month. Not bad for a site that is quite static.
